Quote from Claudia Miatello’s Thank You speech, Committee Chair:

“Over this past year, I have had the amazing opportunity to work with many wonderful people but none so great as the wonderful women on our committee. Many are from my Catholic tradition but there are also those from the United church, the Anglican Church, & the Mennonite tradition. I have such a high level of admiration for the all faith traditions. There is an enrichment and personal growth that comes from knowing another. And I have experienced this with the women on my committee. Ecumenism truly makes us whole. I have also seen first hand the joy, the strength, the commitment, the perseverance, the camaraderie, and the intelligence that typifies the women in theology.

Working with the various women on our committee, getting to know them, listening to their wonderful ideas, has truly been a labour of love. So thank you.

I also want to thank the Toronto School of Theology for their tremendous support. When I first approached Alan Hayes about partnering with our committee, the first thing he said before I could even finish my sentence was “Yes, we’ll support you.” I’m grateful to Diane Henson and Eve Leyerle who have been so committed to helping us as soon as they both came on board and I appreciate their commitment and all their hard work.

TST’s support, belief, and commitment to women in theology and to ecumenism has been strong right from the beginning and has not wavered. Instead I think we’ve all found that this experience together has even allowed us to grow.”
