Dr. Marion Taylor

Our TST Award recipient from the Anglican Church is Marion Taylor.

After earning her doctorate at Yale University, Prof. Taylor returned to her home town and took a position at Wycliffe College teaching Old Testament. Along with providing exceptional teaching and research in traditional biblical topics, particularly interpretation, Prof. Taylor has opened up fresh and important areas of scholarship focusing on recovering women’s voices. Courses such as “Bad Boys and Bad Girls in the Bible”, “The Books of Esther and Ruth”, and “Women Interpreters of the Bible” offer exciting possibilities for students who are searching for a fresh lens into women figures in the Bible, forgotten women interpreters of the Bible and women’s general contribution to biblical scholarship.

‘Marion is one of those phenomenal professors – just exceptional ! A wonderful teacher, a warm presence and her innovative and important scholarship in her area of research is something that opens up our eyes in new and important ways. And her excitement about her research area is so infectious and I think that the excitement is because it’s so exciting that we are hearing voices of women who have been silenced for hundreds and thousands of years.’
